Process Control Engineer

Contract position: Sr. Process Controls Engineer needed for a contract to hire opportunity in Alvin TX. This is an exciting opportunity to lead very large projects. The process control engineer is responsible for maintaining, developing, and deploying process control strategies to improve throughput, yield, and or energy usage utilizing Six Sigma methodology to drive increased productivity for a world class Chemical manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities for the Process Control Engineer

  • Maintain and improve Safety Instrumented Systems

  • Maintain and improve existing process automation assets to achieve production targets for chemical processes

  • Propose enhancements to existing control strategies

  • Use a broad range of automation tools such as advanced regulatory control, model predictive control, abnormal situation management, adaptive tuning, optimal control, robust control, adaptive control, or soft sensors, and data historians to improve existing processes

  • Work with multi-disciplined teams to design, develop and implement solutions for manufacturing processes

  • Lead automation projects

  • Leverage Six Sigma techniques to improve process performance and efficiency

Requirements for the Process Control Engineer

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Process Controls Engineer

  • Bachelors or Masters in Chemical or Electrical Engineering. Other engineering degrees will be given consideration based on relevant experience

  • Familiarity with process controls technologies such as model predictive, multi-variable, non-linear control, advanced regulatory and classic PID control

  • Knowledge of the requirements of ISA84 as applied to design, implementation, maintenance and operations of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)

  • Prior experience with Delta V and Delta V SIS

  • Prior experience with Modicon 984 ladder logic and Provox/Envox a plus
