SQL Developer

job summary:

One of our Austin clients is looking to add a SQL Developer to their growing team.The primary role will be to support a project to upgrade MS SQL Server. Responsibilities will include: identify and resolve compatibility issues when upgrading from a legacy MS SQL Server version. Test, remediate code and coordinate rollout of fixes from Dev to Production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze MS SQL Server objects and identify compatibility issues when upgrading from a legacy MS SQL version

  • Troubleshoot errors, research and propose solutions

  • Make code changes, generates deployment scripts

  • Create and document test cases to validate process functionality

  • Promote changes from Dev to UAT to Prod in accordance with established policies

  • Execute test plans and document results and issues

  • Coordinate testing activities with multiple groups

  • Quickly learn process capabilities, functionality and dependencies by analyzing code and working with peers

  • Track, maintain and report on project status progress

qualifications:

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related experience

  • 3+ years SQL / TSQL, experience writing stored procedures, triggers, table creation, etc.

  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills, including the ability to maintain several concurrent activities while managing user expectations

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment without daily oversight

  • Experience working in a change-controlled environment

  • Experience with a source code management software, TFS or similar

  • Process analysis skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of SSIS, including development, support, troubleshooting and upgrades

  • Experience with MS SQL upgrades

  • Experience with managing software upgrades and testing
