Learning Technology Specialist Trainer

Basic Function

The Learning Technology Specialist Trainer will provide creative technology based training as a member of the Training Team. This position requires quick assimilation and easy adoption of new end user and training technology. The Training/Learning Technology Specialist must be able to document current workflows in the user community and develop ways to improve learning opportunities to increase productivity. The Trainer/Learning Technology Specialist will lead usability research for current and future software and help to create logical roll-out and training plans. The ideal candidate is detailed oriented, curious, thinks outside the box, embraces new technology, and incorporates a full spectrum of tools to assist end users while promoting the business needs of the organization.

Essential Duties

  • Conducts technical training (software roll-outs, new hire, continuing education and productivity training) using the appropriate methods best suited to obtain the required outcome.

  • Collaborates with training staff and subject matter experts to identify, plan, create, design, test, implement, deliver, support, and maintain effective, engaging, innovative, and interactive training activities involving existing and emerging digital technology applications (e.g., e-learning, web-based learning, mobile application learning, podcasting, virtual classroom, videos, tutorials, etc.) and traditional classroom

  • Understands the marketing aspects of technical training and contributes to user adoption.

  • Writes, edits, and proofreads various types of training and vendor materials (end-user documentation, video, eLearning, user tips, and more).

  • Communicates improved workflow procedures to the training team based on research in the user community and on current technical trends.

  • Collaborate with end users to understand unique requirements based on role, business unit, and office location, and offer training solutions that are adaptable to those needs.

  • Stay up-to-date with current trends in training, technology, and instructional design.

  • Defines technical training programs to meet CLE requirements for staff.

  • Works in the Learning Management System to enter new items, update student history and keep materials current, as assigned.

  • Designs training curriculum to provide initial instruction and build skills.




Must have extensive knowledge of software used in the legal environment (Microsoft Office, document management, time and billing, expense reporting, numbering/macro suites, PDF tools, mobile devices). The Training/Learning Technology Specialist requires at least 5 years of training experience in the legal environment. Having the Microsoft Certified Trainer, CompTIA Technical Trainer or Adobe Certified Instructor certifications are a plus. Previous experience with NetDocs and Forte (MacPac) are also a plus. Examples of training strategies and documentation are required. Bilingual in Spanish and English is as plus.
