Production Manager

The Production Manager provides daily hands-on direction to the shop floor team members, monitors the quality of work and ensures that employees receive the proper training. This position will oversee and assist with daily plant manufacturing operations including process and procedure improvement activities.

Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and direct production operations to ensure on time shipping while maintaining product quality.

Provide leadership and direction for the production team.

Accomplish production team results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; interviewing, hiring, promotions, coaching, counseling, disciplining employees; and initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.

Coordinate daily production floor activities and delegate assignments to production team.

Organize shop activities to support cost reduction targets, on-time, and quality shipment of all orders to exceed customer expectations.

Maintains an accurate and effective parts inventory control system that includes a perpetual and/ or annual physical inventory and proper counter procedures.

Ensure data integrity of all parts entry, both active and inactive, within the inventory control system.

Assist in the coordination of service technicians at the customer location.

Act as the company liaison with vendors.

Manage vendor performance within the scope of the contractual obligation.

Work with vendors and manufacturers to ensure quality and pricing meet Apex expectations.

Sourcing quality parts at a cost-effective price.

Avoid the costs of carrying excessive inventory.

Identify and evaluate suppliers who can offer replacement parts that match the quality of the originals.

Monitor employee work performance relative to expectations and maintain material/workflow through the facility.

Prepare, manage, and report on budgets as they relate to the production areas.

Ensure equipment and tools are in good working order and available for use when required.

Continuously evaluate and modify the shop layout and material workflow for increased throughput and productivity.

Monitor and enforce work start, break, and stop times of the production team.

Lead and participate in regular production meetings.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:

*BS/BA degree required, preferably in Production, Operations Management, Logistics, or related technical field

*5+ years of Production management experience in planning and/or scheduling role is required

*Decisive time management and organizational skills in order to handle multiple priorities in a sometime high volume environment

*Inventory management experience related to packaging components, ingredients, and finished goods

*Prior development of policies and procedures to proactively prevent distressed or aged inventory

Qualifications:

A minimum of 3+ years department or plant management experience.

Knowledgeable of all aspects of safety, quality, productivity, and inventory control.

Computer literacy in Microsoft Office preferred.

Knowledge of cutting, drilling and forming machines.

Budget management experience.

Ability to prioritize, delegate and multi-task; a detail-oriented self-starter.

Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.

Must have good communication skills, orally and in writing.
