The senior program manager is accountable for delivering full value realization of large, strategic MetLife initiatives through day-to-day program management. The senior program manager role for the Regulatory Change Management program is responsible for leading the program from the business case and funding process through delivering the business benefits. Throughout this journey, the senior program manager addresses risks and issues that may impact the successful implementation of the business objectives. The senior program manager ensures key stakeholders are working together on shared deliverables and informs the sponsor and senior management team of the program's progress compared to plan.

The senior program manager will lead a program team in developing processes and procedures for enterprise-wide regulatory changes. The program will span across Legal Affairs, Compliance, Global Government Relations, Risk, all business lines and various corporate functions. Responsibilities include advanced program and project management, process development/improvements and reporting. The senior program manager will be required to interpret and present data to different levels of management and communicate with a diverse set of executive stakeholders.

The senior program manager will have exceptional program reporting experience and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across functional areas in a matrix environment and with various levels of management. The senior program manager must possess superb skills with excel programming and be able to derive recommendations based on data analysis.

responsibilities:

Summary of responsibilities:

  • Leads program to full value realization by strategically understanding and tactically delivering the program benefits, budget and timeline

  • Directs a team of project managers responsible for the implementation of the program and projects to achieve full value realization by delivering benefits, budget and timeline to meet the approved business case

  • Demonstrates management rigor, data-driven decision-making and a spirit of continuous improvement by implementing a practical yet robust program governance framework focused on value delivery through leadership, analysis and insights

  • Integrates workstream milestones into overall program schedule. Tracks and provides reporting at both a tactical and executive level

  • Utilizes a practical framework to identify, catalogue, track and manage key dependencies and integration points between major workstreams through program execution

  • Identifies, escalates and resolves risks and issues throughout the program lifecycle. Develops mitigation plans to resolve issues that threaten the successful delivery of the program benefits, budget and timeline

  • Fosters an environment of critical thinking, intellectual rigor, collegial challenge and collaboration between workstreams and creates channels that allow the flow of information to take place easily across program areas

  • Implements rigorous program governance and reporting processes to keep stakeholders informed and engaged

  • Identifies variances to schedule, scope, benefit and budget and drives the change control process to ensure that the program is aligned to business objectives

  • Manages a matrix effectively, including developing and facilitating working groups and the program steering committee

qualifications:

Required experience

  • 10-15 years related work experience successfully managing large, complex regulatory compliance programs with rigor and detailed orientation

  • Understands enterprise and industry perspectives with a strategic vision

  • Experience in creating C-level communications for senior management information and decisionmaking

  • Prior consulting experience and / or general business management experience

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills

  • Experience coordinating enterprise-wide initiatives

  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical abilities

  • Experience in investments, financial services, or insurance industries

Preferred experience

  • Experience managing regulatory programs for the banking or insurance industry

  • Experience/familiarity with insurance products and business

  • Formal risk management experience

  • Adept at leading distributed, global teams

  • PMP certification

  • Six Sigma / LEAN certification and experience
