Maintenance Mechanic - Mechanical

Performs a variety of basic or semi-skilled maintenance and repairs on Airport buildings and equipment. The position is responsible for assisting in the construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair of facilities, buildings, and mechanical systems. The position is basic or semi-skilled maintenance specialist, requiring 0-2 years' experience in the repair, maintenance, and construct buildings, facilities, and mechanical systems. The position may assist other skilled crafts at the as needed with other assignments.


  1. Assists in performing inspections and preventative maintenance on all Jetbridges in a safe and timely manner to ensure safe and efficient operation. Inspections are performed daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual inspections and safety alerts.

  2. Assists in the inspection and operational checks, preventative maintenance and repairs on conveyor belt systems, to ensure minimal interruption of baggage service.

  3. May inspect, maintain, and repair all building plumbing systems, such bathroom fixtures, hardware, backflow systems, and faucets.

  4. May inspect or assist in the inspection and maintenance, and repairs as needed buildings floors and roofs and systems.

  5. Works with a team to ensure buildings and facilities are safe, secure, and appear well, by painting, repairing or replacing dry-wall, and locks and keys.

  6. May assist in the inspection, maintenance, and safe and effective operation of hangar doors at the satellite airports.

  7. May assist or inspect and ensure the proper operation of the Fuel Farm at LRO.

  8. Performs other duties as assigned to meet overall objective of the position and in support of the organization mission.

9.Work is performed indoors and outdoors in extreme weather conditions where significant safety considerations exist from physical labor, handling of medium-to-heavy weight materials, and exposure to electrical currents.

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM


Requires working knowledge of the practices, methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment, layouts and set-ups used to repair and maintain facilities and equipment. Requires a working knowledge of the uses and purposes of hand and power tools, meters, and other equipment used in mechanical work, construction, and general maintenance. Requires knowledge of the assembly and operation of labor saving devices such as personnel and material handling equipment. Requires basic knowledge of the operating characteristics and maintenance procedures for fire prevention and alarm systems. Requires knowledge of safe work practices and the safety orders of OSHA and Aviation industry. Requires sufficient math skills to make detailed measurements. Requires sufficient human relations skills to work as part of a team and convey technical information to and from co-workers and contractors.

Requires the ability to perform basic or semi-skilled maintenance mechanical work in a timely manner and participate/assist in the work of other trades. Requires the ability to operate vehicles and labor saving devices such as chain hoists and electric high-lift equipment, maintenance equipment, and hand and power tools used to perform construction, carpentry, electrical and mechanical services. Requires the ability to observe safe work practices and handle hazardous materials according to accepted procedures. Requires the ability to complete projects on a timely basis and support special events. Requires the ability to complete training within a reasonable time in handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, asbestos awareness, OSHA standards, and blood borne pathogens. Requires the ability to maintain productive and cooperative working relationships with others.

The position requires the basic skills and experience equivalent to perform the tasks at the entry level. The position requires a High School diploma, and industry training and 0-2 years experience in the repair and maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.

Requires a valid drivers license.

Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk up to 400 yards, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Requires the ability to push, pull, and guide materials over 75 pounds. Requires balance to work above ground. Requires the ability to climb (e.g. ladders and poles), stoop, kneel, and crouch on a regular basis. Requires sufficient hand-eye coordination, hand and finger dexterity including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to operate specialized equipment and safety information. Requires auditory ability to hear machinery sounds and alarms. Requires near and far visual acuity to read printed materials, moving objects, and observe work-in-progress. Requires speaking ability to carry on ordinary conversations. Requires the ability to work in extreme temperature conditions.

Resume, valid driver's license and maintenance mechanic experience is needed for this position.
