Aerospace Quality Inspector

A quality control technician will direct the activities of inspectors and testers on the production floor, set up test equipment to monitor quality of materials, perceptive abilities, front and back end of product creation, visually inspecting incoming materials, reviewing final products to ensure quality specifications, test equipment to evaluate the materials or products, record data from test procedures and inspections. Measured by amount of goods received or audited that pass by without defect.

Skills:

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing hand-held measurement devices such as calipers and alignment gauges, they more commonly operate electronic inspection equipment, such as coordinate-measuring machines (CMMs).

-Inspectors testing electrical devices may use voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters to test potential difference, current flow, and resistance respectively.

-Record results of their inspections and prepare test reports

-Report defects, notify supervisors and help to analyze and correct production problems

-Prepare and provide daily production schedule for tracking the success or failure of the previous day's production

-Measured by the percentage of produced units which pass without rework in first pass

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to inspect, test, sample and sort products and goods being manufactured. Must ensure quality standards are strictly followed in accordance with production goals.

Maintenance skills

  • HS Diploma, and/or Technical School Training, may be required

  • Prior experience in the role

  • Flexibility to work in different environments

  • Manual dexterity

  • Sort, test, disassemble and reassemble products or goods

  • Follow blueprints and other specifications

  • Computer skills

  • Attention to detail and accuracy
