Production Laborer

Do you like to work with your hands to fix things? Are you Mechanically inclined and looking for a new challenging career? A leading manufacturer of Vacuum Pumps is looking for someone to become their newest team member in their brand new facility in NE Portland. This is an entry level position and they enjoy training and developing workers to the highest level of quality and workmanship that their customers have learned to expect while adhering to safety and production guidelines. The company is looking for a long term fit and makes it easy to grow and develop your skills for the right candidate.

The shift is Monday to Friday from 7a-3:30pm. Pay starts at $16.25 an hour and after conversion to a full time employee you will receive an additional $1 per hour. Company offers benefits, 401K, Profit Sharing, PTO and sick time.

Responsibilities:

As a new Production Laborer you will working in vacuum cleaning and repair. You will be using basic hand tools to dismantle vacuums to clean all parts. The pumps are cleaned using cold dip parts cleaner, hot dip parts cleaner, high pressure parts washer, bead blaster, and sand blaster. All cleaners are eco-friendly! Parts are then dried and prepared for painting, assembly and testing. You will not be involved in the whole process at first, but as you develop skills, you will be crossed train to assist in other departments.

Other duties may include inventory, crate building and other shipping functions to keep service orders on time for their customers.

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Skills:

  • Perform pre-painting prep and disassemble pumps using hand tools

  • Perform processes and procedures while maintaining measurable and productive output as defined by the production goals

  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals and objectives

  • Assist with implementing and maintaining Continuous Improvement (5S) and Lean activities to improve flow and reduce waste

  • Clean industrial pumps using cold dip parts cleaner, hot dip parts cleaner, high pressure parts washer, bead blaster, and sand blaster (all cleaners are eco-friendly)

  • Prepare pumps and parts for painting

  • Assemble crates and product packaging for shipping pumps and parts

  • Assist with warehouse inventory and shipping functions as needed or directed

  • Present parts for assembly in a standardized format using boards, tables, and/or carts according to established procedures

Experience:

Entry Level

Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

  • Mechanically inclined

  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Valid driver's license may be required for internal Growth Opportunities

  • Willingness to become Forklift Certified

-Must be willing to submit to a Drug Scree, Background Check and Pre-Employment Physical
