Technical Accountant

job summary:

International Insurance Company is seeking a Technical Accountant to join their growing team near White Plains, NY.

This is a full time permanent position the includes a base salary as well as competitive bonus and benefits plan.

responsibilities:

  • The Technical Accountant will be part of a team that is responsible for account reconciliations of technical balances, analytical review of reported financial data and audit support.

  • Ensure quality analysis of financial accounts to support consolidated analytics and legal entity signoff

  • Prepare financial account balance reconciliations

  • Calculate/perform financial account balance analytics

  • Coordinate with IT regarding interface and reconciliation between general ledger and sub-ledgers for insurance/reinsurance financial accounts

  • Prepare audit support for internal audit reviews and external audit

  • Support and design appropriate and sufficient controls over insurance/reinsurance financial account processes

  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate and current procedures and controls documentation

  • Other responsibilities and ad hoc projects as assigned

qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree

  • Experienced accountant with understanding of technical accounting requirements

  • Ability to manipulate large quantities of data and create meaningful analyses

  • Practical knowledge of GAAP

  • Experience with SAP (BW, GL, CD), FSRI is a strong plus

  • Microsoft Excel (formulas, vlookups, pivots, etc.), Outlook, Word
