UX Web Developer

Role: UX Web Developer

Summary:

The UX Developer is responsible for working with designers, information architects and a team of developers to define HTML and JS markup and create custom CSS stylesheets for complex, information-rich web and mobile applications. This role will be responsible for design systems project work by attending daily meetings and providing technical guidance and support during the product development cycle.

Work is almost 100% in CSS and HTML so candidates with solid CSS/semantic HTML experience are desired. Candidates need to be passionate about CSS styling and UX.

Candidates MUST be experienced with an extremely large code base and application size. Important. Very collaborative environment.

Experience:

Associate degree in a technology-related field required (Bachelor's degree preferred)

  • Familiarity with working in Agile development environment

  • Strong knowledge of web standards and accessibility (W3C and s508), interaction design and user-centered design principles

  • Knowledge of design systems and experience designing and/or developing for design systems

  • Minimum 5+ years experience developing large, complex front-end web applications preferred

  • Portfolio of work

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of web standards, accessibility, CSS-driven layouts and manipulating the DOM

  • Ability to create production-quality CSS, SASS, HTML, JavaScript, TS, AJAX and XML for large, complex web applications with support for mobile and tablet devices.

  • Ability to create production-quality code in the latest stable versions of JS libraries and frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue

  • Implement browser-independent designs and cross-browser issues (IE, Firefox, Safari etc) on all platforms

Familiar with:

  • Modular CSS, SASS mixins and functions

  • Developing for mobile (Smart phones) and tablet devices

  • Ability to follow technical specifications and production processes

  • Ability to adjust graphics and create / optimize graphics assets as needed to complete designs

  • Ability to work with source/version control software

  • Aptitude to understand and build SEO/semantic solutions

  • Familiarity with sprite creation and optimization (SVG preferred)
