Senior Cloud/Oracle DBA

job summary:

Our client's Digital Engineering Group is seeking a senior Cloud / Oracle Database Administrator to augment their skillset.

location: Seattle, Washington

job type: Contract

work hours: 9am to 5pm

responsibilities:

  • Lead migration of their primary order management DB from on-premise to the Cloud (AWS)

  • Automate the deployment of test environments for Developer teams

  • Support ongoing projects from the Database perspective (planning, architecture, deploy, post-implementation)

  • Document DB Development best practices and knowledge sharing for the wider team

  • Develop cloud backup & recovery strategy, satisfying business RPO/RTO and Disaster Recovery requirements

  • Support monitoring / pro-active alerting in a cloud environment

  • Work with existing DBA team and development teams to support DB issues on digital systems

  • Setup Schema Management process and tooling automation in partnership with development team to support long term team needs

  • Work with the systems owners and planning the DB roadmap (health, monitoring, refresh, patching) activities for the DB environments

  • Review and recommend actions to optimize DB performance

qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Systems (or related diploma / experience)

  • Proven track record managing production Oracle databases both cloud and on-premise

  • Experience implementing, maintaining and support of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition 11g and 12c Real Application Clusters (RAC/GRID)

  • Proven track record of performing large database migrations using AWS Database Migration Service or Oracle Golden Gate

  • Experience managing database deployments using Infrastructure as code, configuration management, database versioning tools (e.g. Flyway/Liquibase)

  • Ability to work independently and with remotely located teams

  • Oracle Database Performance Tuning experience using AWR, ASH, Tuning Advisors as well as SQL & PL/SQL optimization

  • Nice to Have Skills/Technology:

  • Experience supporting EJBC applications that use Oracle Database (e.g. Weblogic)

  • Experience with Oracle ATG and IBM Sterling OMS

  • Knowledge of Source Control, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery tools (git, Jenkins)

Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code & Configuration Management tools (Terraform, Ansible)
