Designer

Contract position: Electro-Mechanical Designer position opportunity with a client located in the Statesville, NC area. Using Pro-Engineer this 12 month contract with potential to go direct will be responsible to generate design layouts, 3D models, drawings, and Bills of Materials under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities for the Designer

  • Produce conceptual, trade-off, or final design CAD design layouts and models

  • Incorporate Engineering standards such as material sizes, punches, bend radii, leg length, etc.

  • Calculate part tolerances, virtual conditions and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure fit, function and economical manufacture.

  • Provide technical support to other departments such as Assembly, Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality Assurance, etc. as requested.

  • As needed investigation of Eng'g Change requests, Quality Improvement Requests, Non-conforming Material Reports, and Supplier Deviation Requests.

  • Other duties as required

Requirements for the Designer

  • Two-year mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering technology degree preferred

  • Demonstrated proficiency of CAD skills including 3-D modeling and drafting on Pro-Engineer

  • Two or more years experience in layout, design, and detailing experience of new, standard, or special products for production.

  • Demonstrated experience using ANSI Y14.5 drafting standards and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

  • Basic knowledge and skills proficiency in some of the following: Design of formed sheet metal and welded assemblies; Tubing, hosing, and fitting design; ASME Pressure Vessel Code; Structural analysis; Wiring Harness design; Electrical and instrumentation components

  • Experience with Creo and Windchill
