Accounting Specialist

A Government Agency in is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist at either their Surprise or Mesa location for an ongoing assignment. This position will support both the District West office in Surprise and the District East in Mesa. The candidate will be placed at either location depending on the selected candidate's preference and location.

This is a long-term temporary position lasting at least until 6/30/2019. Working hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and the pay rate is $15.50/hr.


The Accounting Specialist will work independently with minimal supervision and is responsible for processing and monitoring district purchasing and supply request orders. The individual will research state contracted vendors and reviews supply agreements, vendor lists and catalogs for best prices; obtains quotes; sends hard copies of POs to requesting staff; follows up with vendors and staff to ensure receipt of purchases; obtains copies of packing slips/invoices, etc.; completes receivers for vendor payment; maintains purchasing log. In addition, this position will process hotel and travel arrangements for district staff attending training and conferences; makes hotel reservation for travelers; sends staff copy of hotel reservation, PO when necessary, and instructions on time frame required if hotel reservation needs to be canceled/ changed. Provides limited administrative support to the Business Operations Unit, such as logging and tracking of various operations/equipment utilization, including Interpretation services tracking.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM


-Strong organization skills

-Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and computer savvy

-Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

-Professionalism and ability to be self directed


High School




-1yr+ prior experience in an Administrative Assistant or Accounting Clerk role.
