The Senior Director, IT - Operations Technology Front End is responsible for all front-end technology systems and services. Operations includes Mechanical, Engineering, Transportation, Network Support, Stations business functions among others. This role owns the transform, grow and run the business budget associated with their service and ensures optimum utilization of investment against company priorities.
IT operates as a Service Oriented Organization (SOO) where Operations Technology - Front End is one of the key service areas. The role of Senior Director, IT - Operations Technology - Front End acts as an IT Service Owner and is the single point of contact (SPOC) in front of the Train Operations business partners for all aspects of the service. He/She is responsible for initiation, elaboration, construction, transition and ongoing maintenance and support of Operations Technology - Front End service. The Service Owner is accountable to IT executive leadership for the performance of that dedicated service (including financial performance). The Service Owner is also responsible for producing and maintaining documentation and materials regarding the service.

Partners with Operations business leaders to develop Operations Technology - Front End service strategies, roadmaps and rationalize portfolio.
Responsible for developing the Service Strategy and a strategic view to the sourcing options. Comes up with the right criteria to pick the right service offerings suiting the business requirements.
Responsible for planning Operations Technology - Front End service budget across both Capex and OpEx vectors. Track budget and takes appropriate steps to stay within budget.
Oversees all service offerings within Operations Technology - Front End service and corresponding service delivery teams.
Manages end to end all front-end Operations Technology systems within inclusive of Dispatch systems, SCADA systems, Positive Train Control, Integrated Labor Management, Crew and Consist Management among others.
Manages in an integrated manner different data driven initiatives originating from Train Operations business partners to drive critical business insights.
Lead all the technology initiatives related to digitalization of modern sets and locomotives. This would include driving all relevant IOT initiatives from a technology standpoint for operating and maintaining rolling stock.
Implement a Cloud First, Mobile First and Data Driven paradigm for all systems and services being built within the Operations Technology - Front End service.
Responsible for managing risk and security within the Operations Technology - Front End service in partnership with the CISO and the Risk and Compliance teams
Manages service governance and applies metrics to measure against defined KPI's and SLA's. Responsible for delivering capabilities within the agreed service levels with the Train Operations business stakeholders and with dependent IT teams negotiating Operational Level Agreements (OLAs).
Meets regularly with team to gather work statuses. Discuss work progress and obstacles. Provides advice, guidance, encouragement and constructive feedback.
Establishes measurable individual and team objectives that are aligned with business and organizational goals. Documents and presents performance assessments. Recognizes and rewards associates commensurate with performance.
Implements organizational practices for staffing, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), diversity, performance management, development, reward and recognition, and retention.
Generates appropriate communication, process and education plans for mitigating the disruption of change. Develops timelines and action steps for anticipating and framing the type of change.
Client expectation management, Program management, Financial management and Technology product delivery experience is required.
15 to 20 years of relevant technical and business managerial experience.
10+ years people management experience required in transportation, travel, hospitality or high-tech domains delivering value.
Deep experience of cloud, mobile, information management, data and train operations technology domains. Demonstrated experience in leveraging these technology themes to drive business value.
Demonstrated experience in working with globally distributed development teams to deliver mission critical business technology systems and services.
Deep understanding of Operational Technology and Industrial Control Systems such as SCADA, Dispatch Systems, Positive Train Control among others.
Demonstrated experience in working with matrixed and distributed technology teams to provide the right level of SLA for business-critical systems.
Experienced in managing critical systems which require 24/7/365 days a year uptime and are expected to perform against the agreed upon metrics.
Demonstrated experience in managing a team of Directors, Managers, Technical Leaders among others and inspiring them and their teams to deliver at the highest level.
skills: Experience working in transportation, travel, hospitality or high-tech environment is highly preferred.
Requires leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and influencing executive level management and key stakeholders.
Requires demonstrated ability to launch and deliver multiple, concurrent IT initiatives on time and within budget.
Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, work well with others in an integrated team environment, and must be self-motivated.
Ability to translate and communicate complex technical issues into language that sr. business executives can easily comprehend.
Excellent team building skills, both within your team and motivating resources across teams.
