Mechanical Design Engineer

Permanent position: Mechanical Design Engineer needed for immediate consideration in the Portland, OR area! Looking for 5+ year related (electro-optical) manufacturing exposure. This company specializes in products that have electro-optical scopes for the consumer, professional and military industries. Must have an enthusiastic attitude, the willingness to travel occasionally. BS required along with working knowledge optical, Solidworks, DOE and manufacturing processes. Responsibilities for the Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Create 3D models, prototypes, sketches and proof of concept models that communicate design intent

  • Work collaboratively with optical and electrical engineers including conducting design reviews on regular basis

  • Take new product concepts through all aspects of the product development cycle ultimately resulting in a producible and innovative product; including performing manufacturing engineering and process engineering functions such as line design, assembly tooling design and work instructions

  • Occasional travel back to Corp office in Northeast

Requirements for the Mechanical Design Engineer

  • BSME required along with a MIN of 5 years recent related Mechanical engineering within a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD Solidworks preferred

  • Knowledge of Metal Injection Molding, plastic injection molding, High volume CNC machining fixtures, gage design, Machine / Tool Design, heat treatment of metals, & metal finishing

  • Must possess excellent customer service, communication (oral and written), and time management skills

  • Prior experience with GD&T and Design of Experiments

  • Prior experience as a Manufacturing Engineer a plus
